Tallahassee Family Opens A New Table For The Family

A new southern style restaurant has opened its doors to the Tallahassee community. Tallahassee natives Joe and Mandy Lemons have launched Table 23 in the heart of Tallahassee’s midtown district, which serves e casual American and Southern cuisine with a modern twist.

Having begun his career at age 23 and worked in the restaurant industry for 23 years, Joe Lemons saw the perfect opportunity to launch his own restaurant and wanted to signify a number that has brought him and his family a great deal of luck – 23.

Table 23 is more than restaurant, but a sincere effort to create a place where good food and drink are a given and superior service is a philosophy. Cultivating a staff that is knowledgeable about all aspects of their food and drink offerings, Table 23 embodies southern traditions of making diners feel at ease, comfortable and well taken care of.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to open a restaurant in our hometown,” said owner Joe Lemons. “We know that when you choose to eat at a restaurant, you’re making a commitment of your time and money, and we want to honor that commitment by giving you a great experience. Our food and service embody the Southern traditions of making our guests feel comfortable and well taken care of.”

Veteran chefs Brian Knepper and Brandon Miller will be leading the kitchen with a menu featuring Southern-inspired plates such as the Gulf Grouper “23” with Gulf shrimp and blue crab stuffing with bourbon and thyme infused skillet corn. The dinner menu includes starters and shareable plates ranging from a modern take on classic Deviled Eggs to Crispy Chicken Cracklins’. The menu also features salads and main dishes with plenty of variety for anyone to enjoy.

The children’s menu includes a selection of an entrée, varying from chicken fingers, grilled cheese or a petit sirloin, along with one side and a dessert. While the kids are enjoying their dinner with a sweet treat, they are also able to enjoy the fun of the featured crossword puzzle and hand-drawn illustrations for coloring included on the menu.

Chef Brian Knepper was formally trained at the renowned Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island and has brought his culinary talents to patrons at the world famous Commander’s Palace Restaurant in New Orleans as well as Tallahassee’s very own Cypress Restaurant and the Governors Club.

Chef Brandon Miller is a graduate of Keiser University Center for Culinary Arts and grew up in the restaurant business while working at his parents’ restaurant, Miller’s BBQ in Morven, GA. He later moved to Bonefish Grill as a corporate trainer where he opened 16 stores across the county. Prior to coming onboard Table 23 Chef Miller worked with Table 23 owner Joe Lemons at the Tallahassee Bonefish Grill for the past 12 years.

Embracing the location’s restored 1920’s frame, Table 23 includes 7,000 square feet of interior space in addition to a 2,000 square feet weatherproof front porch. Located at 1215 Thomasville Road, Table 23 is open seven days a week. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday 4pm to 10pm, Friday and Saturday 4pm to 11pm, and Sunday 10am to 3pm.
